About The Programme
Academic research writing can be the most fascinating yet overwhelming aspect of any research project. The art of writing an academic paper or thesis greatly differs from non-academic or creative writings. Writing in an academic set up not only requires a structured, evidence-based approach, but also a simple, easy to read, engaging and cohesive content for the reader. Due to lack of formal training in academic research writing at institutional level, faculty and young researchers frequently lag in expressing their thoughts and produce research outputs in the form of published articles in reputed journals. Learning and frequently practising the art of writing in an academic setting (in the form of abstracts, manuscripts, posters, research newsletters for publishing) consistently, would help the faculties and researchers to brush up their writing skills. Writing is a continuous learning process, and new ideas/skills can be learnt every single day.
In this context, the current Faculty Development Program on "Academic Research Writing" aims to provide the participants with a variety of modules that may help them to write effectively on academic research related work. Even though each discipline has its own set of writing conventions, vocabulary, and discourse, there are some aspects of the process that are universal. This program will shape these elements to give a glimpse of academic writing and how to streamline the writing process. We aim to provide participants with an understanding of the major components of writing on their research works.
