Biotech Hub

Biotech Hub was established in 2011 under the sponsorship of Department of Biotechnology(DBT), Government of India with an aim to strengthen the existing physical, laboratory and academic environment of the institution. Initially it was in institutional Level but later on during the year 2019 promoted to Advanced Level under phase I . It paved a new way for pursuing research and developmental activities of the college and also its surrounding institutions. It improved the infrastructural facility mainly in the field of procurement of instruments and chemicals and also the educational scenario. The instruments provided facility to work in the field of molecular biology, genetic engineering, biochemistry, microbiology etc.

Biotech Hub facility provided an opportunity to undertake research works by the students as well as faculty members .Since its establishment a number of short term training programmes in the field of molecular biology, tissue culture,microbiology, cytological techniques, horticulture, medicinal plant cultivation and processing, mushroom culture, bio-fertilizer production have been conducted regularly. A number of seminars, project activities,outreach programs, popular lectures were also conducted at the college and also at different educational institutions of Goalpara District, Assam. From time to time seminars, awareness programs are alsobeing conducted by Biotech Hubs. The different fields under which research activities are going on in vitro culture, phytochemical analysis, cytological studies.

A number of resource persons, scientists, teaching faculties from other institutions like IIT Guwahati, IASST, BSI visited our institutions to impart trainings and popular lectures organized by Biotech Hub, Goalpara College, Goalpara. Biotech Hub extends facility to the underground students and also improves the educational scenario. All the departments of the institutions and also neighboring institutions can avail the laboratory facility of Biotech Hub. Students and teachers can pursue their practical and research works in the Biotech Hub.
