The Department of Commerce started its glorious journey from the session of 2015-16 with three year Bcom major and general course under Gauhati University and two years HS course under AHSEC. Before implementing the CBCS courses the department offered three major courses in accountancy, management and finance. After implementation of CBCS course the department offers BCom(Hons) and BCom(Regular) courses. Presently the department is run by 5 faculty members from various disciplines of commerce. The main objectives of the department is to introduce commerce education and practices in the west zone of Assam. Commerce education as a branch of knowledge, commerce imparts experiences of business world at large in all its manifestations. It prepares its learners for personally fruitful and socially desirable careers in the filed of commerce and industries.
